HOW IT STARTED...

Salaam! And welcome to our page. I’m Umm Hanna - an author, illustrator, and business owner… but at home, I’m simply Mama (and that’s my favourite title of all!). I’m a single mum who built a career in healthcare. But once my Mini arrived, the 9–5 life quickly became a challenge. I reduced my hours to care for her, and then lockdown hit. Work came to a halt, and I found myself wondering: How am I going to make this work? Becoming an author was definitely not what I was intending. But truly, we plan and Allah plans. So, how did I end up here? Honestly, sometimes I still ask myself the same question! What I do know is this: my daughter loved books; The ones that rhymed, the ones with vibrant illustrations, the ones with fun and loveable characters. So, I went looking for Islamic books with that same charm - stories that would teach her about Allah’s love, the power of dua, and the idea that with Allah anything is possible. But I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Then one day, while feeding Mini, I started telling her the story of Prophet Yunus (AS) — in the exact style I knew she’d love. That moment planted the seed. Fast forward a few years (because let’s be honest - trying to do anything with a toddler is a mission in itself!)… and after slowly realising that I could create a book, Mini and Mama Books was born. With years of love, hard work, and by Allah’s mercy - here we are. Alhamdulillah.
